MHA sanctions new BOPs along border

As many as 81 Composite BOPs would come up in Tripura by 2017 to enhance the BSF presence along Indo-Bangla border declared on 13th April, 2014. A total of 17 Composite BOPs would be set up in the state’s eastern border considering the security reasons. The state’s eastern border includes Kanchapur, Raishyabari, Ganganagar, Chamanu, Gandcherra and Korbok.


Intelligence inputs say, militants are still active just outside the state’s eastern border and their presence across the border obviously poses security threat. As per the inputs, the NLFT has 14/16 hideouts in Bangladesh. Plots for setting up 17 Composite BOPs have already been acquired and work would start after receiving final clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). A total of 22 Composite BOPs have already started functional while some more such posts are in the pipeline. The state which shares 856 - km Indo-Bangla border has 245 BOPs to guard the state’s borderline. Facilities like dedicated living rooms for jawans, company commander, helipads, generator room, high-tech communication gadgets and erection of barbed wire as defence structure. The Indo-Bangla border in Tripura Frontier is expected to get completed by 2017 as planned by the MHA.
