DK Pathak named new BSF DG

Devendra Kumar Pathak has been appointed the Border Security Force Director General on 7th April, 2014 with immediate effect.

Pathak is an IPS officer of the 1979 batch of the Assam - Meghalaya cadre.

The BSF is country’s largest border guarding force.

His name for the post of DG was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Prior to the appointment of DG, he was posted as the Special DG and was also officiating as the DG since March 1, 2014.

The post of the DG of BSF was vacant since February 28, 2014 when Subhash Joshi retired from the post of DG. Pathak had served in another paramilitary CRPF as its chief of operations in Jammu and Kashmir and he has also spent stints in various positions in his cadre states of Assam and Meghalaya.

He has been appointed till the date of his superannuation on February 29, 2016 or until further orders, whichever takes place earlier.
