Justice RM Lodha took over as 41st Chief Justice of
India on 27th April, 2014.
He was administered the oath of office by the
president Mr Pranab Mukherji at a swearing - in ceremony held at Rashtrapati
Bhawan.
Justice Lodha has taken over from the outgoing CJI
justice Sathasivam who retired on 26th April, 2014.
Justice Lodha will have five month tenure and will
retire on September 27 this year.
Justice Lodha is monitoring CBI investigation in
the coal gate scam case.
The swearing - in
ceremony was attended among others by the prime minister Dr Manmohan SIngh,
vice - president Mr Hamid Ansari along with Supreme Court judges and lawyers.
