The Supreme Court on
28th March, 2014 removed Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)
president N Srinivasan and appointed former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar as
its interim working President, till the conclusion of the IPL- 7 tournament.
A bench comprising
Justices A K Patnaik and Fakkir Mohammed Kalifulla also directed that Chennai
Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) shall participate in IPL- 7.
The apex court also
directed that Vice- President from south zone Shivlal Yadav should take over as
the BCCI chief after IPL- 7 is over and continue till the investigation in IPL
spot fixing and betting scam is over.
The apex court also
directed that Gavaskar shall get out of all his obligations towards BCCI and
shall also do “neither documentary nor commentary for the Board”. Gavaskar was
also directed to keep out all those who have stake in CSK or India Cement.
