Barua’s Baandhon to become first Assamese movie for nationwide release

Acclaimed filmmaker Jahnu Barua's National Award winning Assamese film “Baandhon (Waves of Silence)” is set to become the first Assamese film to be released outside the state.
The film with English subtitles is releasing nationwide on July 5 across PVR cinemas in metro cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Pune.
The movie is based on a story of an elderly couple, Dandeswar and Hkawni, whose lives are tormented when their grandson goes missing in the attacks of 26/11 in Mumbai.
The film won the best flim at the Bengaluru International Film Festival for the year 2012 and later it went to captured the best Assamese feature film title at the 60th National Film Awards.
“Baandhon” cast included Bishnu Kharghoria, Jatin Bora, Bina Patangia, Zerifa Wahid, Abastosh Bhuyan and Anshuman Bhuyan.
