Uttam's Registration Canceled :: NE Bar Council

In a major decision, the Northeast Bar Council has canceled the registration of an advocate of Tripura and issued notification across the country against the errant advocate for cancellation of his registration on charges of grave professional misconduct.

This is the first case of removal of the name of an advocate, Uttam Kumar Chakraborty of Khowai District from the roll of advocates in the Northeast. The NE Bar Council issued the notification on February, 17, 2014 .

The disciplinary committee of NE Bar Council has issued the registration cancellation notice of advocate Uttam Kumar Chakraborty. The NE Bar Council on February 17, 2014 last sent cancellation notice to all states Bar Council and Bar Council of India.

Chakraborty, a notary Public of Teliamura, Khowai, Tripura, notarized a large number of false affidivits without the signature of the deponent / declarant on the affidavits, and the affidavits were allegedly handed over to extremist outfits which used the same for obtaining passports, residential certificates, etc.

The other allegation against Chakraborty, as stated in the formal complaint to the Bar Council by Dilip Kumar Sarkar, relates to mutilation and destruction of a sale deed executed by him as vendor to transfer his right, title and interest of his own land. The sale deed was executed in favour of the father-in-law of Sarkar. The purpose of the fraud was to wipe out evidence regarding the execution of the sale deed for his own benefit.
