National Public Relations Day

The first All India Public Relations Conference was organised in Delhi on April 21, 1968 by the Public Relations Society of India (PRSI). The theme of the conference was ‘Professional Approach’ intending to give a new meaning to the definition of the PR profession in India. Earlier, terms such as publicity, press agentry, information, etc were synonymous with PR. A Code of Ethics for the PR profession was adopted and it was the beginning of professional Public Relations in India.

The objective behind designating April 21 as National Public Relations Day is to focus attention on the Public Relations function and Public Relations professionals in India who have an increasingly important role in the development of the country.
