‘Man of the Match’ Kumar Sangakkara struck an unbeaten 52 off 35 deliveries inclusive of 6 boundaries and a six; while Thisara Perera was undefeated on 21 as Sri Lanka hit up 132/ 4 in 17.5 overs to overhaul India’s meagre 130/ 4 off 20 overs to clinch the T20 World Cup title on 6th April, 2014.

India’s Virat Kohli (Player of the Tournament) struck 77 off 58 deliveries, while Yuvraj Singh turned out to be the villain by consuming 21 deliveries for his 11.

Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and invited India to bat in the match that began after a 40- minute delay due to rain.
